Let us take the time this Christmas to reflect on why we celebrate this holiday. We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and the many blessings he has bestowed upon us. Let us not give in to the business, the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We must not allow it to take over the real meaning of Christmas. We simply need to slow down. We seem to always be in a rush to get somewhere. Let us slow down and pay attention to what is going on around us. Let us look around and be willing to help those in need during these troubling times and show them what the true meaning of Christmas is. Let us show love to others as Jesus did for us and still does to this very day. Jesus is the reason for the season.
Matthew 1:20-25
But after he had considered this an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus; because he will save his people from their sins.
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet : The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel - which means "God with us." When Joseph woke up, he did what the Lord commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name of Jesus."
Luke 2:5-7
"He (David) went there (Bethlehem) to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn."
Luke 2:10-11
"But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord."
God gave us his perfect gift, Jesus Christ, His son. Let us bear gifts to one another this Christmas and the Christmases to come and remember the reason for the season. The wise men came bearing gifts for Jesus Christ, the King of kings and the hope of all the world. As we exchange gifts this year and the years to come, let us remember the real reason we celebrate Christmas. God has given us so much to be thankful for, let us not forget what he has given us and what we have in front of us.
He came to earth and then he gave his life upon the cross for our sins. Let us not forget the real reason we are here. May we help one another and share with those in need, not only during the holidays but throughout the coming years. God Bless each and every one of you during this holiday season. May God be with you and fill you with his peace and joy. Blessings to all and a very Merry Christmas to you all!
